APRIL’S BLOG

It’s April ! Three months have disappeared while we were concentrating on moving from our base in Pensarn to Tŷ Llafar, St David’s Park. After 10 years in Pensarn , you would be surprised how easily we filled a skip with unnecessary materials. Many thanks to Linda and Phil for the hard work they put in to sift, deciding what to keep, packing and checking.

And it was no mean task when you consider 35 years of recording books for the blind and where to place the 2000 plus titles in cassette and cd  forms in our new home.  Luckily we were able to call on Lyn Jones and Delme Thomas to fix row upon row of shelves in Tŷ Llafar.  We are very grateful to them for their endeavours and, with careful planning, all recordings are in place.

Of course, in order to record titles, we need a studio.  Once again  our expert, Dave Thomas was on hand to fix matters- his third  studio for the Talking Books and the Carmarthen Talking Newspaper. Many thanks once again Dave.

And many thanks to all who helped in the move.  They do say that moving house is about as stressful as anything you can experience in day to day matters.  We are pleased that we overcame the stresses and strain without any falling out and disagreement.

So now we have starting recording again.

And one event we can look forward to is the Golf Tournament at Derllys on the 12th of September to raise funds for Talking Books Wales. If you would like to take  part and form a team, please let us know.

We are also preparing for our third road show to raise our profile throughout Wales.  That will take place in October. Also on the cards is a special writing competition for school children following the enthusiastic reaction to our reading sessions last year.

We will bring you more news in the coming weeks
