The  Mayor of Carmarthen, Councillor Barry Williams and the chairman of Carmarthenshire County Council, Councillor Peter Hughes Griffiths were among the guests for the official opening of Tŷ Llafar, the home of Talking Books Wales and the Carmarthen Talking Newspaper

Miss Rhian Evans, the founder of both charities, unveiled the name plate. The Talking Newspaper was started in 1976 and the talking books began life as the Welsh Cassette Scheme in 1979. The present building is the fifth building to be used by both organisations.  The talking books scheme was rebranded as Taking Books Wales and relaunched in 2010.
